Get Into the Fight!
Today, I would like to discuss why we, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are NOT to be in fear. We are given comfort throughout the pages of scripture that encourage us to be strong in the Lord and to walk by faith.
God Almighty Himself, the supreme Creator, the Great I Am, the Ancient of days, the Most High God, etc. has given us words of comfort pertaining to this promise all throughout scripture. We, as believers in Christ, serve God the eternal Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and God the Holy Spirit who comforts, strengthens, teaches us, and convicts us of sin.
Psalm 91 Verses 1-8 tells us...
"1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.
3 Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked."
Romans chapter 8 verse 31 also tells us...
"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
One of the most comforting aspects of going into combat is knowing that no matter what God allows to happen to us, because of our relationship with Christ through faith, it is for His glory and ultimately our growth as believers. If we are to live, we live for Christ and we will grow and become stronger in our walk and in our faith. If we are to die, we are then united with Christ for all eternity.
This same principle doesn't just apply to physical warfare and combat, but in the spiritual battle we face every day of our lives as a believer.
We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines and watch the battle from a distance. We must jock up, put on the full armor of God, and press forward into the fight knowing that the God above all gods is with us every step of the way.
He is our great Commander!
